The Entrepreneurial Spirit

A recent edition of SmartCEO featured the 25 dynamic women business owners who received the first Annual BRAVO! Business Achievement Awards.  These women encompass a key component of success: a consummate entrepreneurial spirit!  Each award winner was queried about her most valuable lesson learned.

Because I completely embrace the concept “work smarter, not harder”, I eagerly read each winner’s response.  What struck me the most was how frequently humanity, integrity, and respect for their profession, employees and clients were mentioned.  Another wonderful surprise was how these women are using their business successes to enrich their community through volunteerism, sponsoring existing charitable organizations, or promoting a cause they are passionate about. Whew, and I thought I was busy!

Perhaps we are not all performing at the same level as the Bravo! Award winners, but I suspect there are a lot of great stories out there that deserve to be published (at least on this blog).  Please drop us a line and tell us about you how your business success are enriching your community.

An excerpt from Robert Frost (Two Tramps in Mud-Time- 1942) nicely closes out my musing:

But yield who will to their separation

My object in life is to unite

   My avocation and my vocation

As my two eyes make one in sight

Only where love and need are one

And the work is play for mortal stakes

Is the deed ever really done

For heaven and the future’s sakes.
