Building Business Relationships

Committed to the development and success of woman owned businesses across the country, the National Association of Women Business Owners has an active regional chapter based in Northern Virginia that holds regular events in Loudoun.

By fostering interdependence among the 30,000 woman business owners of Northern Virginia, NAWBO NOVA‘s mission is to “build a community of relationships and provide resources that will facilitate the growth of women business owners and women owned businesses; strengthen the wealth capacity of our members; influence public policy that impact business owners; and encourage and support business ownership by women.”

The Loudoun Chamber has also teamed up with NAWBO NOVA to offer a series of seminars on range of topics essential to small businesses

Tina Johnson, owner of Johnson Promotions and Events in Leesburg, represents Loudoun County on the NAWBO NOVA board. In addition to facilitating the involvement of the county in the organization’s events, she also assists in promoting advocacy issues for women and fostering the electoral careers of women in the county.

“ My role in being on the board is to promote the organization to women business owners in Loudoun and be the voice of women business owners back to NAWBO NOVA”, says Johnson. “I am very active in making sure that chamber members are invited to networking nights and other NAWBO NOVA events in the county. It is all an extension on helping women grow and develop their businesses.”

According to Johnson, Loudoun is one of the organizations strongest areas. “The energy and the synergy that we have in this group is unparalleled and the chapter is the fastest growing chapter in the country since the organization’s inception 25 years ago.”

A sampling of NAWBO NOVA events for May and June include the chamber’s tech talk brown bag seminars on “ Websites Graphics and Media” and “Email, the Internet and Your Business” as well as the Loudoun county purchasing dept buyer and purchaser exchange.
